A young person making art

The Art Connection

Your ideas, your voices, your neighborhood art museum.

The Art Connection is Pittsburgh’s longest continually running art program for students in grades five through nine. Each Saturday, teaching artists lead students at the museum in developing an artistic practice that explores drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. The Art Connection emphasizes and strengthens the connections between artmaking, everyday life experiences, and artworks found at Carnegie Museum of Art. The Art Connection activates each student’s self-expression and cultural connection to foster creative problem-solving and visual literacy.

Tuition: $350 (members $320) for 18 classes. Scholarships available. All materials included.

Saturdays, October 9 through December 11, 2021 (no class November 27) and continuing January 8 through March 5, 2022. The culminating exhibition will be on view May 2022 at Carnegie Museum of Art.

The Art Connection is organized by grade level. Students can enroll in either morning or afternoon classes:

  • Morning classes: 10:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m.
  • Afternoon classes: 1:15–3:15 p.m.
