The Art Connection

The Art Connection is Pittsburgh’s premier art program for students in grades 5–9. Led by local teaching artists, students learn drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture, and mixed media, culminating with a student exhibition at Carnegie Museum of Art. The Art Connection art classes combine big ideas and practical know-how to prepare young people for a world of visual information and creative problem-solving.

This season, we encourage these young artists to see themselves within the wider Pittsburgh arts community. Taking inspiration from stories of creative life in A Pittsburgh Anthology, the 91st year of The Art Connection challenges students to draw on the museum’s collection and exhibitions as they contribute to the artistic legacy of the Pittsburgh region.
