Bruce Galleries

Free with museum Admission

Join us in the Ailsa Mellon Bruce Decorative Arts and Design galleries for an in-person story time with curatorial assistant Alyssa Velazquez! This month we'll be reading Growing an Artist: The Story of a Landscaper and His Son by John Parra followed by a making activity for children 12 and under led by teaching artist Jena Schieb.

This reading is made possible by Simon & Schuster/Paula Wiseman Books. To purchase past and present Story Saturday titles, checkout Carnegie Museum of Art Museum Store's online reading section.

About the Book
Spend an afternoon with Juanito as he gets to help his papi on the job as a landscape architect! Juanito’s sketch pad is close by throughout, and he learns that everything he experiences feeds his imagination: a nest full of baby birds, a nursery with row upon row of plants and flowers, and more. By the end of the day, Juanito may get the chance to turn his artistic eye toward landscape design—just like his papi.
