Postcommodity: Musical Interpretations

Hall of Sculpture

Every Thursday–Sunday, hear local musicians perform a jazz improvisation based on From Smoke and Tangled Waters We Carried Fire Home, the Fine Prize–winning work by indigenous artist collective Postcommodity in the Carnegie International.

The artwork, designed in the tradition of Navajo sand-painting, can be read as a graphic score. Comprised of steel, glass, and coal, the work represents the history of labor in the Pittsburgh region.
