Online Family Friendly Drawing Workshop

Free with registration

Rachel Rose made thousands of hand drawn images to create her 8-minute animated video, Lake Valley (12 frames per second!). During this live drawing session, find inspiration in clips and stills of Rose’s work and use a variety of drawing techniques to invent your own creative version of Rose's hybrid creature-pet. Bring your imaginary character to life and learn to generate some simple animated gestures using a flip book method, one of the oldest processes for creating images in motion.

Materials needed:

  • binder clip
  • eraser
  • light box (or a window!)
  • paper or large index cards
  • pencil
  • scissors
