Inside Out — Shana Simmons Dance + DJ Thermos & Sister Sludge
Join us on Saturday, July 30, throughout the afternoon in the Sculpture Court for performances by Shana Simmons Dance. In between performances, DJ Thermos and Sister Sludge will soundtrack an afternoon full of eating, drinking, art-making, and summer fun.
Hermes Food Truck will be on-site at the museum bringing both fantastic gyros and platters and the classic carnival flavors of funnel cakes, corn dogs, and chicken tenders.
Trace Brewing, the official brewery partner of Inside Out, will have beer for sale. A selection of non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Inside Out events are FREE and most events are open to audiences of all ages. Make a day of it and reserve your timed tickets to visit the museum before or after you enjoy Inside Out!
About the Artists
Shana Simmons Dance (SSD) was founded in 2009 by Artistic Director Shana Simmons to create unique and engaging contemporary dance. Since its founding, Simmons has used dance as a means to express other people’s opinions as well as her own: to interpret and create. She takes inspiration from the immediate world in which we are living, and her choreographic expressions are created from the ways in which our society is changing, the need for intimate connections to people and objects, and providing the viewer a unique perspective, if not participatory action.
About Inside Out
Inside Out is Carnegie Museum of Art's free outdoor summer event series. Inside Out takes place from Saturday, June 4 through Saturday, August 13 in the museum’s Sculpture Court in an immersive pavilion by artist Rafael Domenech, commissioned for the 58th Carnegie International.
On Thursday nights from 5 to 9 p.m., Pittsburgh’s expansive nightlife scene takes over the Sculpture Court. A lineup of some of the city’s most dynamic DJs transforms the Sculpture Court into a can’t miss happy hour destination for friends and dancing during the week. On Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., everyone is invited to enjoy performances from regional arts organizations and performers, soak in summer sounds from DJs, grab a bite from local food trucks, and get creative with artists and art-making.
Generous support is provided by The Benter Foundation.
Carnegie Museum of Art is supported by The Heinz Endowments and Allegheny Regional Asset District. Carnegie Museum of Art receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
