A Conversation with Beverly Serrell, Author of Exhibit Labels
Free, registration recommended
Since its publication in 1996, Exhibit Labels: An Interpretive Approach has been one of the foremost reference tools for museums seeking to write clear and engaging interpretive texts for their visitors. Please join us for an intimate conversation with author Beverly Serrell, as we celebrate publication of the book’s second edition and reflect on the art of planning, writing, and designing effective interpretive labels for museum audiences. Beverly will discuss the book in a conversation moderated by Matt Sikora, manager of evaluation at the Arts Education Collaborative, and then open the floor to audience questions. As one of the museum field’s leading voices, Beverly will share her insights into best principles and practice based on research and her extensive experience as a teacher, museum educator, and exhibit and evaluation consultant with art, history, natural history, and science museums as well as zoos and aquariums.
The second edition of Exhibit Labels: An Interpretive Approach is available online through publisher Rowman and Littlefield (www.rowman.com) and a limited number will be sold at the CMOA Store on the day of the event. Beverly will sign copies of the book after the session.
Presented by Pittsburgh Museum Educators Roundtable, Carnegie Museum of Art, and J. Sickler Consulting.
