Stuart Davis: Music and Shapes

Scaife Galleries

Artist Stuart Davis named his monumental painting Composition Concrete after a type of music. Create a composition of your own while listening to a variety of musical selections and sounds in the galleries. Celebrate Father’s Day in the galleries on Sun., June 15.

Out of This World

Simple things—from paper and tape to cardboard or string—are the favorite materials of many of the Life on Mars artists. What “out of this world” creation can you come up with from a variety of everyday stuff?

Help your kids beat the summer heat! Children’s author Elizabeth Goodwin Perry reads from her warm-weather book Think Cool Thoughts, the story of a sweltering night and a joyous celebration with family. Young daughter Angel dreams about birds and the buildings around her apartment in the city as her mom and Aunt Lucy relive happy childhood memories. They all awake to a cooler morning.
