Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania…Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History, where freedom of expression is celebrated every day, will be open Monday, January 21, 2008, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Admission is $15 for adults, $11 for children ages 3–18, and $12 for seniors ages 65+. Children ages 3 and under are free.
Special exhibitions include Dinosaurs in Their Time—the return of the dinosaurs, dramatically posed in their natural environments and on a scale never seen before—at Carnegie Museum of Natural History; and a last opportunity to experience two Associated Artists of Pittsburgh exhibitions, the 97th Annual and Popular Salon of the People at Carnegie Museum of Art.
Along with world-class collections always on view at both museums, other programming includes:
Exhibitions and exhibits
At CMA:
- Designed to be Lit, an exploration of the historic evolution of lighting forms and materials
- Forum 61: Lowry Burgess, monumental and colorful paintings on various cosmological themes
- On A Grand Scale: The Hall of Architecture at 100, chronicling the history of Andrew Carnegie’s creation of the third-largest cast collection in the world
At CMNH:
- Arresting Arrangements, 20 large-scale photos documenting the remounting of the dinosaurs
- Mongolian Calligraphy, 35 calligraphy paintings by Mongolian calligraphist and artist Jalair Dovdon Bathayar

- Popular Salon of the People, 12:30–1:30 p.m. A discussion about the artists and art that have contributed to the nearly 100-year history of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh
- On a Grand Scale: The Hall of Architecture at 100, 1:30–2:30 p.m. An overview of the history of the largest surviving architectural cast collection in the Western Hemisphere
- Free audio tour available of more than 100 works of art in the museum’s collection and Art Cat’s family-friendly audio tour

The Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History stores will be open.
Carnegie Café will be open 10:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., and Fossil Fuels Café will be open 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
