Girls Write the Museum

Carnegie Museum of Art

Free Event

Carnegie Museum of Art and Girls Write Pittsburgh welcome girls ages 13–18 for a free writing workshop inspired by works of art at CMOA.

CMOA staff and docents lead participants on explorations of the museum's Teenie Harris Archive, the otherworldly garments in Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion, and its world-class paintings collection. Then, using the discoveries they've made in the galleries as inspiration, participants share ideas and craft poetry, prose, or short stories in creative writing workshops led by Girls Write Pittsburgh.

Girls Write Pittsburgh inspires teen girls to find their voices through writing. It is the city's only program designed to empower teen girls through the creative expression of writing, exposing them to a world of opportunity, through the craft.

This event is part of the City of Pittsburgh's Inclusive Innovation Week.
